5 Dancing Things (Part 1)
*I have to give you some backstory before I get into the 5 things*
I thought I was a dancer. For years, I spent hours upon hours dancing at clubs. At the height of my powers you could find me dancing Thursday - Sunday at various spots around the city. Thursday was Sharkdance. Friday was someplace on the Richmond Strip. Saturday was Club Phoenix, Sunday was Club Etc. No really, Club Etcetera.
As I reflect, I probably WAS a dancer. I could dance. But let me tell you something. I’m reflecting more and I danced. I danced pretty good, but I was not a dancer…
Fast forward [redacted] years and I get a phone call from a lady named Jennifer who was so bubbly and excited. She couldn’t see my *Tillis Face*, as it was after work and I wasn’t excited about anything, as I had to wait for my Son Son to get out of band practice. I could have been home napping or enjoying a snack. Early into the convo she said the name Gina. So I knew then I had to buy what she was selling.
Let me tell you - she was she selling something. She was putting together an event to raise monies for college students who wanted to attend my alma mater, Lee College. How could I say no? I couldn’t.
So this event was called, “Dancing For Our Stars” kind of like that TV Show [Redacted], but no one wants to be sued, feel me? I know you do!
Before you know it, this thing was being promoted and we had an opening night, where we made promo videos and mingled with sponsors and other big wigs.
I immediately thought this was going to be really cool…but I had one problem, I could not secure a dance partner.
The wife is introverted and not about that spotlight. Jennifer told me that they had some dance instructors and that they would find me a partner. Just like [redacted], I’d meet a stranger and she would have to teach me how to dance and everything.
At the kickoff event, I met a woman named Heather who is the owner of the Crosby Dance Academy. She was real cool and for a second I thought she was going to be my partner, until she told me that I would be meeting one of her instructors and said instructor would be my partner.
I went home that night excited, yet nervous about my potential partner. Once we met, my nerves vanished…
I love Cliff hangers....can't wait til part 2....you the man!
